<p>If you don’t have a bucket list yet, why not? You are shortchanging yourself. <strong><em>A bucket list will pinpoint those activities and achievements that mean the most to you.</em></strong> If you do not prioritize your time, you might miss out on something important! Consider making a bucket list today. Did you know there are even phone apps that will help with the process?<br></p>



<p><strong>Create a bucket list and define your future:</strong><br></p>



<p><strong>1. Have different types of items within your bucket list.</strong> You might include a physical challenge, like running a marathon. How about a few adventures, like scuba diving on the barrier reef or hang gliding, or maybe parachuting out of a plane? You could include a few intellectual and travel items. Maybe you have always wanted to learn how to play the piano or see the pyramids.<br></p>



<p><strong>2. Keep it meaningful.</strong> Be realistic. Some things might impress others but are not be meaningful to you. <strong><em>Avoid choosing items just to impress others.</em></strong> Focus on impressing yourself.<strong><br></strong></p>



<p><strong>3. Keep the list short.</strong> You might not have time to do everything that sounds appealing. Better yet, you might create a long list but always single out the top 10. <p><strong>9. Think about whom you would like to share these experiences with.</strong> White water rafting would be fun. It would be even more fun with your old college roommate or someone you want to reconnect with.</p>

<p>Have you ever wondered how great it would be if your life was an exciting cornucopia of new adventures? No more days where you wonder if there might be something better. No more complaints about being bored.</p>



<p>Most everyone’s life is full of chores and routines. You might even find yourself just going through the motions not realizing that you could be pursuing some excitement instead.</p>



<p>There will always be chores and other required tasks, however, the time that remains can be a fulfilling set of exciting adventures. With a little creativity and action, boredom can become a faded memory of your past.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Try the following ways to add excitement to your life:</strong></p>



<p>1. <strong>Challenge yourself.</strong> It does not matter what you choose to do but find something that challenges you. <strong><em>Push your boundaries.</em></strong> Not only will you be adding excitement to your life, you will also end up achieving more that you ever thought you could.&nbsp;</p>



<p>2. <strong>Dare yourself to do something totally different.</strong> Do you find yourself taking the same old highway in your day to day routine? You may find excitement by just going in a different direction than you are used to. Try a new route in your daily walk. Do you always enjoy a certain meal at a restaurant?&nbsp; Pick something else or even a new restaurant next time. These small variances from your normal pattern can be just the pick-me-up you are seeking.&nbsp;</p>



<p>3. <strong>Expand your comfort zone.</strong> Muster the courage to step out of your comfort zone. It can feel quite exhilarating, get your heart pumping faster, and make you feel alive again. <em>When you step outside your comfort zone, you open a door to a whole new world of exciting experiences.</em></p>



<p>4. <strong>Do something you have always wanted to do.</strong> Is there something you have been meaning to try? Then, now is the time. <strong><em>Go for it with all the passion you have got!</em></strong></p>



<p>5. <strong>Make adventures a priority.</strong> You might have to book excitement into your daily schedule. This will force you to take it just as seriously as your other commitments. In addition, it will give you an allotted time where your focus is solely on enjoying an adventure.&nbsp;</p>



<p>6. <strong>Meet new people.</strong> Meeting new people may introduce you to new interests, hobbies, music, food, and more. It is difficult to stay bored when you are letting new people into your life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>8. <strong>Plan a grand adventure. </strong>Is there a destination you have always wanted to go to or visit far away friends? <p>9. <strong>Volunteer your time.</strong> You probably think that volunteering is only about the giving of yourself for the good of others. However, <strong><em>volunteering can be personally rewarding and even exciting.</em></strong> You may find that you genuinely enjoy helping other people, and you never know what, or who, you will discover in the course of volunteering.</p>

<p>One way to get more energy is to incorporate essential oils and color therapy into your life. Studies show that certain colors provide energy, while others provide calmness, and some even make you hungry. If you work in a high energy place, red and violet can work, but if you want to make people feel happy and also productive, choose green and yellows. <br></p>



<p>Just because you want to be energetic doesn’t mean everything should be red, but it may mean that the wall in the exercise room should be red. It may also mean that any room you want to relax in should be a shade of blue. This is a great color for a waiting room, for example. A soft blue that is almost white can be very soothing.<br></p>

Doodle, journal, color, join a choir, scrapbook. Doing anything creative is a great way to learn about yourself, develop skills, keep your mind active and enjoy yourself. It is very satisfying to use your creative talent. You can share in your joy by giving gifts to your friends and family. 

Make a “to learn” list:
Just like a to do list, a "to learn" list helps you remember things that came up in a conversation or something you saw on TV or in a movie that you want to know more about. This is a handy tool to reference to fuel our curiosity. As you learn a new skill or topic you can keep a log which will help you feel even more accomplished. 

Make new friends:
It’s fun and educational to meet new people, especially when you have things in common to discuss. Find groups or individuals who, like you, enjoy learning. Social interaction can be an additional benefit as a result of pursuing lifelong learning.

Keep a notebook handy:
When you keep a notebook with you at all times, you can easily jot down things that you want to add to your “to learn” list. You can also record a book that someone recommends. As you learn new things you can also log your epiphanies which you can then reference from time to time. Of course you can also use your smart phone to keep track of these things with apps such as Notepad, Evernote or OneNote. 

Always have a book:
Keep a good book in your purse or car so you always have something to do (and learn) when you have unexpected downtime. This is even easier now as you can read on your phone, tablet or Kindle. This allows you to have thousands of books immediately available. I love the new Kindle Paperwhite which is water proof and also supports audible that you can listen to with bluetooth headphones.

Prove yourself wrong: Challenge yourself to take up a task you have always thought you could not accomplish or is outside of your comfort zone. Whether it’s oil painting or building an invention you’ve thought of, if you attack the task with enthusiasm and a learner’s mindset, you will be amazed how much you can accomplish! Lifelong learning is a journey which can be enjoyed by everyone.<br />
