<p>If you have never heard of a
vision board before, it is simply a board that you can reference to accentuate some
message about yourself or your goals. Even though that is not an official
definition, it should serve to give you the concept in a nutshell. Are vision
boards a valuable tool towards helping you believe in yourself?</p>



<p>In general, you place pictures
and information on your vision board that indicates different accomplishments of
your life. It could be personal, professional, or both. Since there are no
limits on how many you can have, you could have separate vision boards for
personal and professional purposes as well. </p>



<p>Vision Boards have their
pros and cons. One of the most noteworthy benefits is you can refer to it
whenever you need encouragement or an aspect of your life changes in some way.
You can update the board to reflect those changes.</p>



<p>Another pro (possibly also a
con) is that you can put whatever you want on a vision board, but if it does not
help you with your aspirations, it may not be as beneficial to have it on the
board. In fact, it could hinder your progress because it takes up prime real
estate on your board. Nothing is set in stone on your board, however. If you
find something on your board that is not beneficial, remove it.</p>



<p>Vision boards are not for
everyone. Some people find them to be a waste of time. They spend lots of time
finding items to place on the boards and then never refer to them again. They believe
they could have spent their time more productively.</p>



<p>One use of vision boards is
to place achievements on them. It is easy to forget about events that happened
earlier in our lives. Keeping spots on the vision board dedicated to them will
serve as a reminder. If you don’t believe that you have forgotten about your
accomplishments, think back to what you achieved in high school and college or
when you first started your job. </p>



<p>Having a constant visual reminder
of your accomplishments helps to strengthen your belief in yourself. Each success
will help you remember all you went through to get it, and this can help you
with your future accomplishments. Going through this exercise will give you the
assurance to tackle anything you set out to do.</p>



<p>There are no right or wrong answers when constructing
a vision board. It just needs to work for you. If it does not, you should
figure out why and adjust as you see fit.</p>

<p>Here is a list of actions common to successful people to support you in accomplishing your own personal development.</p>



<p><strong>(1) Make the &#8216;Decision&#8217; to be Successful &#8211; Success is a &#8216;Decision&#8217;! &#8230;</strong></p>



<p>Success starts with a decision to <strong>be</strong> successful! It is not a journey or an end result. When you decide you want to achieve something, and mean it with your heart, the journey is what happens as a result of that decision. And, what a journey it is! &#8230;</p>



<p><strong>(2) Recognize that Success is an &#8216;Inside&#8217; Job</strong></p>



<p>You must choose to make the necessary changes on the &#8216;inside&#8217; or in your mind before you can achieve real changes and accomplish the success you hope. Our minds are like a big filing cabinet. Insert new positive files to empower yourself to get what you want. Be committed to your ongoing personal development.</p>



<p><strong>(3) Set Goals</strong></p>



<p>Write down your goals and hopes and review them daily. Divide those goals into specific action plans. Separate your action plans into action lists with small steps (at least 3 next steps). Purge the time wasters.</p>



<p><strong>(4) Take Action!</strong></p>



<p>Successful people know what they need to do to get what they want.&nbsp; They waste no time taking action and doing it. Once you achieve that first goal you will be amazed how you feel. Make it simple, take the anxiety out of it, and just do it. Aim for progress, not perfection.</p>



<p>When you take that step things will start to line up.</p>



<p><strong>(4) Make Smart Choices to Support Your Success</strong></p>



<p>Ask yourself if this choice will help you achieve your goal. Successful people make choices that support accomplishing the end goal. The more good decisions you make, the more success you&#8217;ll have.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>(5) Overcome Procrastination</strong></p>



<p>Overcoming procrastination begins in the mind.&nbsp; Focus on one goal at a time but be sure to schedule that goal.&nbsp; Have a date to aim for completion of that goal.&nbsp; Make a decision before you begin that you will allow nothing short of an emergency to deter you from meeting that deadline. Be determined to achieve the goal in front of you. &nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>(6) See Opportunity&nbsp;</strong></p>



<p>Know that obstructions are often unrecognized opportunities.&nbsp; Successful people know how to make their failings work for them. Embrace your failings or shortcomings and turn them into opportunities to tell others how you defeated them and triumphed &#8211; tell your story &#8230;</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><![CDATA[Visualizing is an important part of manifesting any goal. As with anything else, there are ways of using this technique that are more effective than others. <em]]&gt; This process may be a little more involved that what you&#8217;re currently doing to manifest your objectives, but don&#8217;t let that stop you. Practicing will only require 5-10 minutes each day, and the results are well worth the effort. Let&#8217;s get started and make something happen! Follow these suggestions and your results will improve dramatically:</p>
<ol>
<li>Be thorough. Envisioning yourself accomplishing your objective is just a beginning. <em>To be thorough, visualize your life as a whole, including all the changes that would result from achieving your objective</em>. By doing this, you make your vision real enough to have significant effects.</li>
</ol>
<ul>
<li>For example, imagining a big pile of cash on your dining room table isn’t enough to achieve greater wealth. If you really did have that much money, would you really have it piled up on your dining room table? Unlikely. You&#8217;d most likely have a bank statement or brokerage statement that showed your huge balance.</li>
<li>Also, consider everything else that would change in your life. Would you still be going to work every day? Would you be working in the same place? Would you be living in the same house? Drive the same car? Hang out with the same people?</li>
</ul>
<ol start="2">
<li>Use what comes to you. While visualizing, you&#8217;re likely to feel certain emotions. <em>These emotions are the key to predicting your ultimate success.</em> If you feel confident and excited during your visualization process, you&#8217;re well on your way. However, if you feel any negative emotions, you have more work to do.</li>
</ol>
<ul>
<li>Try to determine the cause of any negative feelings and deal with them. Keep a list of the issues that arise and make a plan to address them.</li>
</ul>
<ol start="3">
<li>Visualize frequently. You can&#8217;t expect much if you only practice once a week. <em>A good rule to follow is two times a day, minimum.</em> The best times are while you&#8217;re in bed: first thing in the morning and just before you fall asleep. You mind tends to be more open and relaxed at these times.</li>
<li>Write it down. Avoid trying to do it all in your head. Once a week, write out your visualization and be as detailed as possible. What are your thoughts? How do you feel? What do you see, hear, taste and smell? It&#8217;s worthwhile to read your visualization aloud at least once a day. The more senses and learning modalities you use, the better.</li>
</ol>

<li>Imagine your dreams coming to life. Read them like a story to yourself, and read aloud so you hear them, too. This is much more effective than just occasionally daydreaming about your goals.</li>
</ul>
<p>Visualization is a powerful tool when used properly. If you incorporate twice-daily visualization into your routine, you&#8217;re bound to see some significant results pretty quickly.   <strong><em>Just remember: it’s important to remember to visualize your entire life with the new change in place, not just the change itself.</em></strong> The more complete the visualization, the better the results.
