<p>If you don’t have a bucket list yet, why not? You are shortchanging yourself. <strong><em>A bucket list will pinpoint those activities and achievements that mean the most to you.</em></strong> If you do not prioritize your time, you might miss out on something important! Consider making a bucket list today. Did you know there are even phone apps that will help with the process?<br></p>



<p><strong>Create a bucket list and define your future:</strong><br></p>



<p><strong>1. Have different types of items within your bucket list.</strong> You might include a physical challenge, like running a marathon. How about a few adventures, like scuba diving on the barrier reef or hang gliding, or maybe parachuting out of a plane? You could include a few intellectual and travel items. Maybe you have always wanted to learn how to play the piano or see the pyramids.<br></p>



<p><strong>2. Keep it meaningful.</strong> Be realistic. Some things might impress others but are not be meaningful to you. <strong><em>Avoid choosing items just to impress others.</em></strong> Focus on impressing yourself.<strong><br></strong></p>



<p><strong>3. Keep the list short.</strong> You might not have time to do everything that sounds appealing. Better yet, you might create a long list but always single out the top 10. The top 10 can change over <g class="gr_ gr_6 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="6" data-gr-id="6">time,</g> but always prioritize.</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li><strong><em>The most important items on your bucket list will matter more than the rest of the list combined.</em></strong><br></li></ul>



<p><strong>4. Have one item you can do with your currently available time and resources.</strong> It might be to train for a marathon or rent a limo for the evening. Do not wait to check an item off your bucket list. This will give you a feeling of achievement.<br></p>



<p><strong>5. Set goals that support items on your bucket list.</strong> Do you want to live in Costa Rica when you retire? Start by setting some financial goals and start learning how to speak Spanish.</p>

<p><strong>6. You do not have to create your list in a single sitting.</strong> Supposing it will take years to check off all the items, your list will change. <strong><em>You are changing, so it is only realistic to expect your list to change, too.</em></strong></p>

<p><strong>8. Look at other bucket lists for ideas.</strong> Try looking online, there are many available for viewing. <p><strong>9. Think about whom you would like to share these experiences with.</strong> White water rafting would be fun. It would be even more fun with your old college roommate or someone you want to reconnect with.</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>You might prefer to tackle some of the items on your list alone. Others might be more meaningful with a friend.</li></ul>

<p>How many people do you know that would tell you their lives are filled with purpose and meaning? <strong>Most people really do lead lives that are mundane with no drive or direction.</strong> It is common to feel dissatisfied with life and to believe that your life lacks purpose and meaning. The good news is this does not have to be a permanent condition!</p>



<p>There is no set formula for a meaningful life. The values and perception of the world you have are unique. <strong>The most meaningful and purposeful life you can lead is specific to you.</strong> Pursue the courage to create a life that potentially lies outside the average.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Live a life filled with meaning and purpose:</strong></p>



<p><strong>1. Help someone.</strong> Truly, the most satisfying life is one that serves others in some manner. The list is endless. You could be an author, nurse or teacher, or volunteer to coach youth in a sport. A life without service to others is not as meaningful as it could be.<br></p>



<p><strong>2. Do something new.</strong> Most people live a self-centered life spent only concerned with short-term pleasure and pain. Do something new or different that interests you.&nbsp; It might be a little uncomfortable at first.</p>



<p><strong>3. Drop television for a week.</strong> Watching TV is addictive. It also steals valuable hours from your life that could be spent doing countless other things.</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>You could go back to school, or even learn to speak another language.&nbsp; How far in your personal development can you get from another year of watching TV every night?</li></ul>



<p><strong>4. Write your own script.</strong> Too many people feel compelled to live by the expectations of society. You must go to college, get married, have kids, and have a good career. If your life is structured by society or anyone else, how can you find purpose in life for yourself?</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>It’s never too late to break free from the mold that society has created.</strong> Does the typical conventional life appeal to you? Make your own rules.</li></ul>



<p><strong>5. Push beyond your comfort zone.</strong> An interesting and exciting life awaits beyond that comfortable place we all like to reside. However, the comfort zone is a breeding place for mediocrity. &nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>6. Follow your gut.</strong> Your gut is geared to your interests, experiences, and perception of the world. Allow your intuition to guide you in the big decisions.<br></p>



<p><strong>7. Know your values.</strong>&nbsp; <em>What matters the most to you?</em> It is doubtful that you can live a meaningful life that is not built around your values. Be mindful of your principles and consider them when making all your decisions.</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Make a list of all your values and put them in order with the most important at the top of the list. Circle the top six.<br></li><li>For the next month, make all of your decisions with these six values in mind. If you cannot do it, you might have to rearrange your values!<br></li></ul>



<p><strong>8. Be aware of your strength and passions.</strong> By combining your values, strengths, and passions, you can create a meaningful life. Serve others along the way and you will have a guaranteed winner.<br></p>



<p>Become aware of your values, strengths, and passions. You are more likely to develop a meaningful life with knowledge of these fundamental areas. <strong>The right lifestyle is specific to you.</strong> If your life is devoid of purpose and meaning…it is time to create a new life. You don not have to live a life of quiet misery.</p>

<p>Do you really think that an amazing life just happens by chance? You will find it<strong><em> </em></strong>is necessary to devote your time, energy, and focus in an intentional manner<strong><em>.</em></strong> Distractions, less important goals, and a shortage of resources can interfere in your achieving and living an amazing life. The lack of a clear objective is the greatest obstacle. However, these challenges can be solved with a little effort.<br></p>



<p><strong>Create an amazing life that’s meaningful and exciting to you:</strong><br></p>



<p><strong>1. Remove what is not necessary.</strong> You must g<em>et rid of anything that takes up time or space and does not provide a worthwhile result.</em> If it is not important to you, do not include it in your life.<br></p>



<p><strong>2. Decide on your priorities.</strong> You might not be able to do or be the best of everything. However, you can accomplish some very amazing things over the course of a lifetime. </p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Narrow your focus to a few priorities. What is the most important thing you want to accomplish or experience? Keep your list short.</li></ul>



<p><strong>3. Stock up on the necessities.</strong> Courage is a necessity! The higher the risk, the more courage is required. Of course, if you had plenty of money, time, energy, and support, you would require less courage to seek after that amazing life. So, start building reserves in the key areas of your life.</p>



<p><strong>4. Remove the distractions from your life.</strong> Is it the television, the casual friend, or the goals that only passably interest you?</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Warren Buffett often advises people to make a list of their top 10 priorities in order of importance. Next, he tells you to avoid numbers 4-10 like the plague. Those are the things that get in the way of accomplishing the top 3.</li></ul>



<p><strong>5. Deal with negative thoughts.</strong> Failing to deal with negative thoughts can cause major challenges down the road. Be committed to expecting the best, finding solutions, and staying positive. <em>Negativity fuels procrastination and deflates your desire to press on.</em><br></p>



<p><strong>6. Spend your time wisely.</strong> Avoid taking the easy path which is most likely the long way. Choose the shortest path to your amazing life. It may not be the most comfortable path, but you can handle it.<br><br></p>



<p><strong>7. Get started.</strong> The first step is often the hardest. Avoid waiting for some future event to occur. You can do it today! Even if you have kids, a limited income, or limited knowledge, just be determined to get started.<br><br></p>



<p><strong>8. It is not that difficult.</strong> There is not as much competition than you might think. Consider how much time the average person wastes at work and at home. The reason is that most people fail to prioritize their time. They do not set goals. They allow too many distractions.<br></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>The path is not nearly as difficult when you choose the direction of your life and eliminate distractions.</li></ul>



<p>Is your life less than amazing? It doesn’t have to stay that way. <strong><em>Setting priorities and removing distractions are the keys to creating an amazing life.</em></strong> It is not too late! There is still time to live the life you have always dreamed of. However, it is important to get started today.</p>

<p>The hustle and bustle of daily life can sweep us away from what really means the most to us. <strong><em>It’s up to each of us to figure out how to live a personally fulfilling life.</em></strong> Although much of your life is shared with others, you can still carve out your own space for a rich, meaningful life.<br></p>



<p><strong>Take action now to live a life that you love:</strong><br></p>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>Clarify what matters to you.</strong> How you spend your time largely determines what’s important to you. If you say your family is at the top of your list, do you spend the bulk of your spare time with them? <strong><em>When you know for sure who and what matters most to you, then that’s where you want to focus your time and energy.</em></strong><br><br></li><li><strong>Stay in the moment.</strong> If you’re planting flowers, think about packing the earth well and digging the hole deeply enough. Remind yourself to water them immediately afterward. Regardless of what you’re involved in, keep your mind focused.<br><br></li></ol>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Even when you’re washing the pots and pans, you can concentrate on having nice, hot water and shining the outside of the pans the way you like them.<br><br></li></ul>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>Say what you mean and mean what you say.</strong> Do your words carry importance and honesty, along with kindness and care? Avoid mincing words. <strong><em>Get to the point, but remember to take the other person’s feelings into consideration.</em></strong> When your discussions contain subjects of interest and heartfelt feelings, it’s meaningful for you and the listener.<br><br></li><li><strong>Find your passion.</strong> What gets you interested, excited, or fascinated? Has there ever been a topic that you think about all day long to the point where you can hardly stand it? If so, follow your passion. Make it an important part of your life as often as you can.<br><br></li></ol>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>If it’s golf, play it as often as you can. If your passion is working with children, then pursue it, whether it’s through working at a nursery school, becoming a school teacher, or serving as the neighborhood babysitter. Make it happen.<br><br></li></ul>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>Worry less about what others think.</strong> Pay more attention to what <em>you</em> think. <strong><em>If someone isn’t a relevant player in your personal life, then what they believe about you is irrelevant.</em></strong> What you believe about yourself is what matters.</li></ol>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Use your emotional fortitude in ways that make your life better. Ensure that your opinion of yourself is great!<br><br></li></ul>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>Instead of complaining, accept the situation or take action.</strong> If what you’re upset about is out of your control, it might be time to just accept it. However, if it’s something that’s within your power to change, take action. <strong><em>Complaining is a waste of your precious time. Focus on problem-solving instead.</em></strong><br><br></li><li><strong>Accept responsibility for your life.</strong> If you’re unhappy, there’s no reason to blame your parents, spouse, or boss. Step up and make some decisions to alter what troubles you.</li></ol>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>You are the captain of your own ship.<strong><em> </em></strong>Figure out the course you want to take and then stay on it.<br><br></li></ul>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>Refuse to criticize.</strong> Focus on assessing your own life instead. Notice the good qualities in others. Making positive changes in yourself is where your power lies.<br><br></li><li><strong>“Be the change you want to see in the world.” </strong>Mahatma Gandhi, a great man of peace, first said this quote. <strong><em>Make a difference in your own life and the lives of others.</em></strong> You’ll absolutely love yourself for it. Others will love what you’re doing, too. Volunteer. Join a club. Get involved!</li></ol>



<p>An enriching life is here for the taking. When your focus is clear, you can then expend your energy on the people and things that matter in your life. Isn’t it time to begin the journey toward a life filled with positivity and meaning? You deserve it!<br></p>

<p>Here is a list of actions common to successful people to support you in accomplishing your own personal development.</p>



<p><strong>(1) Make the &#8216;Decision&#8217; to be Successful &#8211; Success is a &#8216;Decision&#8217;! &#8230;</strong></p>



<p>Success starts with a decision to <strong>be</strong> successful! It is not a journey or an end result. When you decide you want to achieve something, and mean it with your heart, the journey is what happens as a result of that decision. And, what a journey it is! &#8230;</p>



<p><strong>(2) Recognize that Success is an &#8216;Inside&#8217; Job</strong></p>



<p>You must choose to make the necessary changes on the &#8216;inside&#8217; or in your mind before you can achieve real changes and accomplish the success you hope. Our minds are like a big filing cabinet. Insert new positive files to empower yourself to get what you want. Be committed to your ongoing personal development.</p>



<p><strong>(3) Set Goals</strong></p>



<p>Write down your goals and hopes and review them daily. Divide those goals into specific action plans. Separate your action plans into action lists with small steps (at least 3 next steps). Purge the time wasters.</p>



<p><strong>(4) Take Action!</strong></p>



<p>Successful people know what they need to do to get what they want.&nbsp; They waste no time taking action and doing it. Once you achieve that first goal you will be amazed how you feel. Make it simple, take the anxiety out of it, and just do it. Aim for progress, not perfection.</p>



<p>When you take that step things will start to line up.</p>



<p><strong>(4) Make Smart Choices to Support Your Success</strong></p>



<p>Ask yourself if this choice will help you achieve your goal. Successful people make choices that support accomplishing the end goal. The more good decisions you make, the more success you&#8217;ll have.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>(5) Overcome Procrastination</strong></p>



<p>Overcoming procrastination begins in the mind.&nbsp; Focus on one goal at a time but be sure to schedule that goal.&nbsp; Have a date to aim for completion of that goal.&nbsp; Make a decision before you begin that you will allow nothing short of an emergency to deter you from meeting that deadline. Be determined to achieve the goal in front of you. &nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>(6) See Opportunity&nbsp;</strong></p>



<p>Know that obstructions are often unrecognized opportunities.&nbsp; Successful people know how to make their failings work for them. Embrace your failings or shortcomings and turn them into opportunities to tell others how you defeated them and triumphed &#8211; tell your story &#8230;</p>

Doodle, journal, color, join a choir, scrapbook. Doing anything creative is a great way to learn about yourself, develop skills, keep your mind active and enjoy yourself. It is very satisfying to use your creative talent. You can share in your joy by giving gifts to your friends and family. 

Make a “to learn” list:
Just like a to do list, a "to learn" list helps you remember things that came up in a conversation or something you saw on TV or in a movie that you want to know more about. This is a handy tool to reference to fuel our curiosity. As you learn a new skill or topic you can keep a log which will help you feel even more accomplished. 

Make new friends:
It’s fun and educational to meet new people, especially when you have things in common to discuss. Find groups or individuals who, like you, enjoy learning. Social interaction can be an additional benefit as a result of pursuing lifelong learning.

Keep a notebook handy:
When you keep a notebook with you at all times, you can easily jot down things that you want to add to your “to learn” list. You can also record a book that someone recommends. As you learn new things you can also log your epiphanies which you can then reference from time to time. Of course you can also use your smart phone to keep track of these things with apps such as Notepad, Evernote or OneNote. 

Always have a book:
Keep a good book in your purse or car so you always have something to do (and learn) when you have unexpected downtime. This is even easier now as you can read on your phone, tablet or Kindle. This allows you to have thousands of books immediately available. I love the new Kindle Paperwhite which is water proof and also supports audible that you can listen to with bluetooth headphones.

Prove yourself wrong: Challenge yourself to take up a task you have always thought you could not accomplish or is outside of your comfort zone. Whether it’s oil painting or building an invention you’ve thought of, if you attack the task with enthusiasm and a learner’s mindset, you will be amazed how much you can accomplish! Lifelong learning is a journey which can be enjoyed by everyone.<br />
